Grading Rubric for My Dream Computer PowerPoint presentation

Your First Assignment - Purchasing your "Dream Computer"

Imagine that your favourite rich aunt has just given you $1500 (CDN) to spend on a new computer system.  You are to choose a system that contains at least these elements:
  • a hard drive and tower
  • a monitor
  • a mouse
  • a keyboard

Be careful to address these questions as you choose your system:

  • what size monitor?
  • how much RAM?
  • what size hard drive?
  • which operating system - PC or Mac, Windows 2000, ME or XP?
  • which peripherals to go with it? scanner? digital camera? printer? CD-ROM, CD-writer? DVD-ROM? DVD-writer?
  • what kind of Internet connection? dial-up? dial-up high-speed (DSL)? cable?
  • 3-D video card?

Where can you find the best deal in town? You will be required to make a presentation on your "dream computer" and to justify your purchase.  Think carefully about what you need and what you want.  You can look on the Internet for deals, but it is highly recommended that you look through flyers and newspapers for sales.  You can scan in photos and material for your digital presentation.
